Yashpal Sharma can smile now!

Somehow award shows become the perfect excuse for actors to vent their hurts and dashed desires (Remember Dharmendra’s classic speech at an awards show, where he sentimentally aired his grief at being passed over during awards time?) Now we have Yashpal Sharma, known for movies like GANGAAJAL, LAGAAN, APHARAN and AB TAK CHHAPPAN, who shares that he was extremely disappointed when he didn’t get any awards for these films. Sharma’s feelings have been partially assuaged by the fact that he bagged the trophy for the Sabse Achi Dosti category at the Zee Rishtey Awards for his role as Bhagwan Das in his TV show ‘Neeli Chhatri Waale’.

The actor declares that it will always remain close to his heart as it was his “first award so far.” For those who haven’t caught ‘Neeli Chhatri Waale’ yet, it was Sharma’s portrayal of the hassled common man which helped him clinch the award along with his co-star Himanshu Soni, who plays Lord Shivaye in the show.
