NAVDEEP CHHABRA who is debuting in ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ alongside actors such as Ram Kapoor and Sunny Leone chatted up with SHUBARNA MUKERJI SHU about the film and his experiences.
l To begin with, tell us a little about your role in Kuch Kuch Locha Hai
I play the role of Jiggy Patel whose ultimate dream is to become a rockstar. Jiggy has his own band named Jiggy and the jets. Jiggy plays his band at school proms, college festivals and local events and is waiting for his big break. I think the most interesting aspect of the role is that Jiggy has a rather curious relationship with his father and we often see them facing off through the film which makes an interesting story in itself.
l Given this is your first film, the most inevitable question is, how did the whole thing come about? How did you grab this opportunity?
I would say just good luck and I am not at all being modest, when you hear how I landed Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, you too would agree. Like many others I came to Mumbai to become an actor, after all it is the heart and soul of filmland. But when I say I am lucky, I have a valid reason for it too, I landed in town and in a week’s time I got a call from Devang’s office and they asked me to audition for the role of Jiggy Patel (Ram Kapoor’s son). I obviously went for it, did it and to my surprise I got a call from them the very next day asking me to come and sign the film. It was just like that, I come, I auditioned and I am already a film old. Believe me I couldn’t believe me good luck myself, I was shocked and surprised and happy at the same time. I think that moment will be etched in my mind forever.
l It is your first film, and that too starring the hottest gal in Bollywood today, how was it shooting with
Sunny Leone? We would love details please…
All I can say is she is through professional, very down to earth and a fun human being. While shooting she only concentrates on her scene but while we were not shooting she is a party on the set. I don’t remember any one dull moment while she was around. But that is the professional aspect, right? Personally, I would like to add it’s more like a dream come true for me to act with Sunny Leone in my very first
film.
l Given you are someone who is clearly a fan of the vivacious diva, what was your first reaction when
you got to know you are shooting with Sunny Leone for your first
film?
When they told me I am working with Sunny leone, I couldn’t believe my luck. I was super excited to work with Sunny Leone; I mean everyone in India is a Sunny leone fan including me, and getting an opportunity to work with a star like Sunny that too in my very first film was a opportunity that I would not have missed for anything in the world! And believe me, knowing her a little now, I would only be more grateful to god for the chance, she is a pleasure to be around.
l Let us not forget another beauty in this film, Evelyn Sharma! You are paired opposite her in the film, so do tell us a little about how was it to have her as a co-star?
She is a wonderful co-star and a great human being. Through professional and a very hard working girl. She plays my love interest in the film named Naina and when you see our chemistry in the film you will know we both compliment each other very well in the film. The best thing about having a costar like her is that we are both learning on the job so there was a lot of comfort level and trust which makes great symbiosis for actors.

about the other projects you
are working on or even
considering…
Currently I am concentrating on my debut release Kuch Kuch Locha Hai. Besides I have also signed another film with Devang Dholakia’s titled Zoom. I am also in talks with 2 more production houses but nothing has been finalised yet. Fingers crossed.
