Karachi: Saba Imtiaz, the woman who penned ‘Karachi, You’re Killing Me!’ that is now getting a Bollywood adaptation, titled ‘Noor,’ feels that “the good elements of a novel should be taken and worked into a good story.”
While speaking to a leading Channel, the author said it is very exciting as she grew up watching Bollywood movies, reports the Dawn.
“I wouldn’t have ever imagined my novel to be adapted into a Bollywood film,” she said.
Saba also mentioned that she is well aware of the fact that “when a novel is adapted into a film, it’s not a carbon copy of it – nor should it be.”
However, Saba revealed that she has no say in the script or the film, but that doesn’t bother her. For her, it would’ve been like “writing the whole novel again.”
‘Karachi, You’re Killing Me!’ is Saba Imtiaz’s first novel, which was published in 2014.
The main character is a journalist named Ayesha, to be portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha, who lives in Karachi and works at an English-based newspaper. The story revolves around her life and how working in a big city influences her life.
