Some say the tiff started with Abhishek Kapoor not being approached to direct the film, some say it is not a tiff between Farhan and Abhishek, but Abhishek and Pubali Chaudhari to begin with… well, here’s the whole truth…
There have been many stories floating as to why things have soured between those who gave us the cult film ‘Rock On’. Apparently, Gattu aka Abhishek Kapoor has been looking forward to making the sequel of the film soon after the first film released and yet, stayed away from the sequel of the film but sources claim that the director has been actively participating in the scripting of the sequel ‘Rock On 2’ along with Pubali Chaudhari.
The whole issue started when Abhishek was kept in the dark with regards to the film going on floor and he wasn’t even certain if they had used the script he wrote or not. In the lawsuit Kapoor mentions that he wrote an email to Pubali which read,” heard about Excel making ‘Rock On 2’. Have they contacted you? I have a feeling they would want to make our script.”
But Pubali reverted saying that she was unwell and that she would discuss the same with Kapoor on a later date. While Chaudhuri told Kapoor that she was ill, she went ahead to get the script registered by the Film Writer’s Association on the very same day!
About the said breach of trust the suit filed by Kapoor says, “The malafide conduct of Chaudhuri can be seen from the fact that when the plaintiff (Kapoor) addressed an email, she did not dispute the contents whereby Kapoor referred the script as `our script’. In fact, she made a false statement that she was unwell. Had she been unwell, she would not have got the script registered the same day. It is clear from the conduct of Chaudhuri that she cheated Kapoor. It was a blatant breach of trust.”
While it might seem that most of his issues are pertaining with Chaudhari, apparently Kapoor has also dragged Excel films into the suit for not giving him due credit for the film.
“Gattu didn’t even know that they are going on the floor with ‘Rock On 2’, he heard about it in through the papers, it is then that he asked Pubali whether she is aware of it, see, it is a breach of trust for sure. If they didn’t want
him to direct the film, it is ok but they should have had the courtesy to give credit where it is due,” quipped our source.
The truth of the matter will be out soon, till then here’s hoping such a good team doesn’t sour relationships.
