While Swara Bhaskar is busy promoting her movie Veere Di Wedding with co-actors Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Shikha Talsiani, the girl squad has garnered a lot of attention for the film. The film had already touched controversies prior to its release for having profanities in the trailer. The actresses are shown using abusive words due to which the movie had come under the scanner. Yet another controversy has made its way after the release of the film.
Pakistani VJ and actor Urwa Hocane is not happy with Swara Bhaskar making two contradictory statements about Pakistan. On Sunday, Urwa posted two clips, one old and another from Saturday, from different interviews given by Swara to two different channels. While the first clip is from an interview she did on a Pakistani channel, the second is from a conversation between the team of Veere Di Wedding and Rajeev Masand of News 18 on June 2.
Urwa wrote while tagging Swara in the post, “Need I say more?”
The first clip shows Swara praising Pakistan and its people. She said, “Pakistan is not like how it is described, an enemy state. I swear, I have been to London, New York, Istanbul, Paris, every city fails in front of Lahore.” In the second video, she can be seen calling Pakistan a ‘failing state’. While pointing out Pakistan’s non-secular nature as a state, she said, “I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan. Swara also said that the Pakistani vocabulary is ‘way worse’ than what ‘we do’. Interestingly, in her interview with the Pakistani channel, she categorically praised Pakistan’s day-to-day vocabulary, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Film Veere Di Wedding which released on June 1st has opened to packed houses.
