Varun Dhawan in BBC Asian Network interview confirmed that he will be doing the remake 1995’s hit ‘Coolie No 1’. The original was directed by his father David Dhawan and starrer, Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.
Varun while discussing his upcoming films named Coolie No 1 and said, “As I said it, I was like “should I say it?” But I think it’s come out so many places that yeah.”
When asked if Alia will play Karisma’s iconic role he said, “I can’t do every film with Alia Bhatt. That you will know soon, I don’t want to say it now but Alia and me are not working. We’ll do something..after…we’ll give a little break to people because I think for everyone it is like ‘oh, they are back again’.”
Varun has also worked in father David Dhawan’s Judwaa remake in 2017.
Furthermore, talking about working with Alia for over three films, Varun said it doesn’t feel like work. “We feel like building friends – we are playing together all the time.”
The two will also be seen together for the 4th time in ‘Kalank’ since their debut in 2012’s ‘Student of the Year’. Varun, who was last seen in ‘Sui Dhaaga’ alongside Anushka Sharma is gearing up for the promotions of Karan Johar’s period drama ‘Kalank’. The film also stars Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, and Aditya Roy Kapur among others.
