Hrithik, Sunaina launch book on Dad Rakesh Roshan
Rakesh Roshan is a proud dad! On the day when India’s new Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had his oath taking ceremony, the filmmaker was presented with a pictorial biography on his life by none other than his daughter Sunaina Roshan. The entire Roshan khandaan was present in New Delhi on Monday night and made for a picture perfect moment for the launch of ‘To Dad, With Love’, penned by Sunaina. Talking about the book Rakesh said, “Modi-ji ne kahaa ache din aane waale hain. Mera ache din toh aa gaye (Modi said good days lie ahead, my good day has come) – a daughter is launching a book on her father. What better day to launch it.”
Rakesh and Pinkie’s elder child, Sunaina, said that it was when she worked with her father as an assistant director for ‘Krrish 3’ that she came up with an idea of writing a book on him. “I saw a different side of him at work. I felt this man needs to be written about to inspire people,” said Sunaina, a cancer survivor. Sunaina said that it is her father’s never-say-die spirit which inspires her the most, and it is his philosophy of “tough times don`t last, tough people do,” which kept her going even when she was ill.
Sunaina penned down the book, based on the photographs from her father Rakesh Roshan’s childhood to his teenage years, to his early days as an actor, when he turned a husband, father, director and on his journey till now. She also got in touch with his extended family and friends to get the project going secretly! The book includes names like Shatrughan Sinha, Jeetendra and Rishi Kapoor, to whom Sunaina spoke for getting the most candid information out about her father.
The entire family has contributed to the effort as the book’s foreword has been written by Hrithik, while their mother Pinkie played a key role in putting the whole idea together. At the event, the family spoke candidly about being each other’s strength. They also happily joked and praised each other on their ‘superhero’ abilities at the event, which was also attended by the Roshans’ elderly family members. Seeing them at this special family moment, Rakesh and Pinkie got emotional and even went out of their way to greet them. Now that’s one happy family, always there for each other we say!
When Sunaina was asked about her next project she promptly replied, “Maybe a book on Hrithiknext!” But she later clarified saying, “Oh, that was just a joke…but, you never really know. I never thought I’d write a book, but I did.”
