Three Bollywood playback queens join hands for a song for an upcoming movie ‘Saavi – A Bonded Bride’ which is based on the social issues of women that still exist in Muslim Gujjar community in areas of Himachal Pradesh.
Neeti, Shalmali and Hard Kaur will be seen crooning to the song ‘Kar Hausla’ which is based on the blind practices which are still followed. Its their way of contributing to the whole issue and initiating the highly awaited change in our society. With this socially relevant song they aim to make a small, yet significant contribution in bringing about a drastic change in the society which still follows the orthodox watta – satta system (Barter of Women).
The title of this song is ‘Kar Hausla’ is composed by Ravi Sheen. Shalmali says “It was my first time working with Ravi Sheen. I must say we enjoyed it thoroughly. I was made to feel completely at ease from the very beginning. Everyone related to the film in the room, already had a lot of faith in me which made me feel doubly confident about doing justice to the song. Ravi ji spent time explaining the essence of the song to me and I’m proud that I was part of this project as it deals with a very sensitive issue of Barter of Women.”
Music director Ravi says “I really enjoyed making this track ‘Kar Hausla’ and feel proud that its sung by these talented and star singers Shalmali, Neeti and Hard Kaur. They have given soul to my Lyrics and Composition. I would thank Producer Bhannu Sharma for giving me this opportunity.”
The story of ‘Saavi – A Bonded Bride’ is interestingly based on watta-satta – the barter system for women that still exists in certain communities in the Chamba area of Himachal Pradesh. The film is produced by Bhanu Sharma (Sahaj production) and is helmed by the national award winning director Rajeev Kumar.
