On being asked does she miss her long hair, the actress said, “I’m okay with it now. I don’t even miss it. Yet it (my hair) was the be-all, end-all of my life. It was this stupid thing that I was hanging on to. My instinct was to wear a cap, a scarf or a wig-but these things are so ugly. I knew that if I had to accept it (going bald), I had to put a picture out there. Because once you share it on social media, you can feel the release,” she said.

Last year Sonali on her social media revealed that she had been struck by cancer. Post that for a brief period of time, Sonali was in the United States of America, where she underwent chemotherapy. In the medical process, Sonali although lost her hair but gained immense confidence. The actress who initially sported a wig decided to embrace her bald avatar. Sonali recently came back to Mumbai, and is now fulfilling her professional commitments.
