The latest Salman Khan starrer directed by Kabir Khan, seems to be breaking all the previous records set by films like ‘3Idiots’as per trade pundits. Guess, the actors magic has worked again.
Amidst much anticipation, the Salman Khan- Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Ek Tha Tiger’finally released on Wednesday. Trade pundits and industry insiders had predicted a record- breaking opening even before the film made it to the theatres. The Sallu- Kat pairing and the promise of seeing Salman at his best was expected to generate immense audience curiosity. The result: an impressive box office opening. At the time of going to press, it was estimated that the film would garner ”30 crore or more at the box office on the first day itself.
According to trade analyst Komal Nahtas tweet, ” Exhibitors’early estimates of first day ‘Ek Tha Tiger’all- India net: ”30 crore plus! Yes, 30 plus. Some say, 32 crore.
History being re- written on this historic day.” Another advantage for the film was that it released on a public holiday, so it will get a long opening weekend. The ticket rates for the film were also increased considering the advance booking at various theatres across the country. The fact that the promo of YRFs next starring Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan was to be showcased along with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’also added to the appeal of the film.
However, interestingly, those who have seen the film claim that the only good thing about it is Salman and his chemistry with Kat. The audience seems to be disappointed with the overall screenplay and plot of the film. That doesn’t seem to have dimmed the Tigers roar however.
The film might just break all previous box office records and all of Sallus competitors might just have to buck up!
