This home invasion thriller revolves around a white psycho who terrorizes a clueless black young couple. But it’s not about race. The thing is the creep used to own their home and refuses to let go. Expectedly,  there is violence and mayhem.

Something that well-to-do San Franciscan Scott Russell (Michael Ealy ) didn’t bargain for when he and his wife, Annie (Meagan Good ) purchased the secluded house named Foxglove ( after a poisonous flower) from Charlie Peck (Dennis Quaid, creepy) who keeps showing up — as lawnmower or giftbearer.

Charlie seems to have suspended plans of relocating to Florida to join his daughter ( Lili Sepe)Things take several turns for the worse and Scott realises ( finally!)  that Charlie is deranged.

Sadly, the backstories are unplumbed and character development left unexplored while the film-makers settle for jump scares and cliched thrills, chills and spills. There’s a political subtext somewhere between the violence, sex and nudity.
