Film: Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive

A pointless sequel, engineered to manufacture the same kind of spoofy humor garnered by the first (and definitely far better) effort, this Abhishek Sharma directed flip-flop is so devoid of drama and incidence that it could put you to sleep.
Though a sequel, the story is not a continuation from the first. Most of the elements are the same with a few more props added to make it seem creative. Most of the actors from the first film also manage to find space in this outing.
Osama is dead but according to the CIA operative David (Sikander Kher) the troops failed to capture live footage of the assassination. So the American public is not very sure that their President Obama (Iman Crosson) is actually telling the truth. Luckily for the US, there’s a lookalike Paddi Singh (Pradhuman Singh), of the dead terrorist hanging around in Mumbai just waiting with his assorted crew, to be taken for a ride.
To top that, the film crew with Director Sharma (Manish Paul) at the helm has also been fooled into being patsy for Osama’s terrorist friends. David gets into a ‘brown’ garb to fit in within the Indian milieu and sets out to reboot the entire sequence of events leading to Osama Bin laden’s eventual death. But hindrances keep cropping up and time is running out for President Obama’s re-election campaign.
While the story might sound inventive, the manner in which it plays out is just not interesting. The timing is off, goofy playfulness of the first is totally missing and the humor is near non-existent. The script is as good as not written. The entire narrative appears to have been cobbled together without a script. But for Sikander Kher’s versatile makeovers and Manas Choudhury’s innovative sound design, this would have been a total disaster.
