Television actor Shyam Pathak who is best known for playing the journalist or Patrakar Popatlal in the comedy show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” (TMKOC) once featured in a Chinese film. Yes, you read that right!
Pathak featured in the 2007 erotic espionage period film "Lust, Caution" starring Tang Wei. He essayed the role of a jewellery shopkeeper.

In TMKOC, Shyam's character is a man of high integrity and with strongly rooted belief in his profession. He works as a crime reporter for a newspaper called "Toofan Express".
Earlier this month, Popatlal was seen investigating news around rampant hoarding, black marketing and adulteration of critical life-saving medicines.
Despite knowing that people involved in such criminal acts are dangerous, he decides to conduct a sting operation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The show, while maintaining its comedy quotient demonstrated how an honest, upright journalist is even willing to risk their life for the sake of finding the truth. It saluted journalists who exhibit such courage and dedicate their lives working in the interest of citizens and the nation.
"Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah" is billed as the world’s longest running daily comedy show and most of its characters are household names in India and many other countries.
First aired in 2008, the show is running in its 13th year with upwards of 3100 episodes. "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah" is the only Indian show that concurrently runs the show in live action, animation, and two different regional languages including Telugu and Marathi.
