'There is evidence against Pearl V Puri': DCP refutes Ekta Kapoor's claim of 'false rape allegations'

Television actor Pearl V Puri was sent to 14-day judicial custody by Vasai court on Saturday. He was nabbed late on Friday night on alleged charges of molesting and raping a five-year-old girl two years ago.

After several television celebrities including Ekta Kapoor, Anita Hassanandani, Karishma Tanna, Nia Sharma, Krystle D'souza and others came out in support of Pearl, Vasai DCP in a press statement said that the accusations are not false.

In a clip of the press conference, posted on Twitter, the DCP revealed that there is proof and testimony from the victim to prove the charges, refuting producer Ekta Kapoor's claims.

The DCP said, "No, the accusations are not false. His name has come up in the investigation. There is evidence against him. That is why police has arrested him. The truth will be decided in the trial."

On Saturday, Ekta had shared a long post on Instagram where she mentioned that the Naagin 3 actor is innocent, and is being framed by the girl's father.

In the caption of her post, Ekta also stated that she has spoken to the girl's mother, who clearly stated that Pearl is not involved in the case.
