Everyone was taken by surprise when stories about Rati Agnihotri’s troubled marriage surfaced, the actress whose son Tanuj made his Bollywood debut last year with Purani Jeans is apparently giving her all the strength she needs to tide over these rough patches of her troubled marriage.
Rati who recently broke her silence about her marriage said that she is utmost hurt by the way the media has latched onto her personal tragedy as a juicy piece of news. For someone who cannot get past the fact that it took her 30 years to cut herself free from her abusive marriage, Rati was expecting a lot more empathy from media persons than what she has received, she said. Rati is aghast at how many people are coming upto her and asking personal questions without any sense of compassion towards what has transpired. It has been alleged that Rati went to the authorities complaining about domestic violence perpetrated by her husband.
“People are asking why I remained in the marriage for so long. Well, firstly, it’s my life. I don’t owe any explanations to anyone except my son Tanuj for whose sake I chose to stay on. I’ve taken 30 years to opt out of my marriage. I’ve been patient and I’ve borne a lot. Tanuj is the only reason I stuck on (in the marriage). He is 28 now and man enough to face the truth in his mother’s life. He knew the truth ten years ago. He knows the truth now. He knows what his mother has endured. Finally he has told me. ‘Mom, don’t live your life for me. Live for yourself. Do what you think is right for yourself.’”
Deriving strengthen from her son’s words, Rati is set to move on, here’s wishing her all the best and a good life ahead.
