Bollywood’s King Khan Shah Rukh Khanwas seen dancing and literally lifting a lady police constable during a dance sequence on Saturday at Jai Hey, a show put up by the Kolkata Police at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium where Mamata Banerjee tied a rakhi on to the actor to celebrate Rakshabandhan! What’s more, it seems that the fun-act has now landed SRK in yet another controversy as the song-and-dance-episode has triggered the anger of the Opposition about indiscipline in the state police force.
Criticising the act Ritesh Tewari, a BJP leader, said, “How could a police woman in uniform be allowed to dance on stage?,” while state Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the rules don’t allow a person in uniform to dance. It’s noted that though there has been no official reaction from Kolkata Police, but a former Kolkata Police Commissioner, Nirupam Som, has said on record that he would have never allowed it. Retired IPS officer Sandhi Mukherjee has said, “Perhaps the dancing happened on the spur of the moment. But it would have been better if it had not happened.”
According to sources, the Shah Rukh and the constable’s song-dance act was entirely impromptu and went with the flow of the show. Actors Bipasha Basu was also seen at the event.
