Sonakshi Sinha has never attempted to starve herself into the Size Zero rule nor has she shied away from speaking out about photoshopping and body shaming in the industry. She calls the trend “absolutely shameful,” pointing that she has been targeted ruthlessly for being a certain way but adds that she doesn’t let it get to her. To her it is more important to project a healthy body image for girls who look up to her. She believes that even if she were to become skinny it wouldn’t be of much use as she wouldn’t be able to work well as she would fall sick all the time. Well aware that skinny isn’t her body structure, Sonakshi points out that she has worked very hard to look the way she does today given that she did weigh 95 kilos once upon a time!
The actress, who has always had a stable head on her shoulders, muses that the pressure to be stick-thin actually affects the mind. It creates a disconnect when you are trying to be someone you are not and thus not being true to yourself. With innate practicality she points out that she is not doing roles which require her to look Size Zero, nor is she wearing clothes which demand that she be skinny. So even though certain people have tried to make her feel like she is doing something wrong, she is never apologetic for what is not wrong and what she essentially is. Even when she was overweight and bullied in school she used to give it back and that has been her training ground of sorts. School prepared her to handle the name-calling and the bullying. Her confidence wasn’t shaken even when she was picked on for her weight during DABANGG when she was thin! That’s when she decided to leave people and their opinions out of her reckoning and just continue working. Attagirl, Sona. That’s all that matters in the end!
