Sonakshi Sinha steps out from her homely, next door girl image and becomes bolder and spicier in Prabudheva’s ‘R…Rajkumar’ by not just slapping the hero onscreen but also mouthing swear words.

She shares, “I must confess that working in ‘R…Rajkumar’ has become my favorite role. Prabhu sir has made me do action, drama, dance and everything. I have literally turned ‘Dabangg’. I have gone to the extent of slapping the hero too. The romance in this film will give a fresh feel. It is not on the similar lines like earlier films- a boy running after a girl and blah blah. Both the girl and the boy are very much alike. I have also learnt slangs like ‘luchcha’, ‘lafanga’ ‘choor’ etc.” And added that in real life nobody dares to swear at her.
Shedding light on how she has fallen in sync with her director, she says, “If I look back working with Prabu, I have learnt to understand him very well. So many times when Prabhu just sits near the monitor and is enacting the changes as though I am on the sets ready for the take. I instantly understand what he wants. Before he can update the changes, I ask him if he wants me to perform in this particular manner.”
Sharing her experience of working with costar, Shahid Kapoor, she says, “It is not for the first time I am performing with an actor of my age. Indeed I have worked with Ranveer Singh and Imran Khan. And here working with Shahid, it was a great feel. He is a talented actor; he has the entertainment value within him, is dedicated and also performs exuberantly well. Having a talented costar, the work becomes easier.”
On her cinematic journey and her love for commercial flicks as well as meaningful roles, Sonakshi shares, “Having worked for almost nine films, it feels as though I have just begun. Time has flown fast. However, I have gained ample amount of experience after working continuously for different films. Nonetheless, working for commercial films is something that I enjoy the most. But yes, I chose the character of ‘Lootera’, because I was totally bowled out by it. Lootera’s character has set new standards for me; I will surely like to take some role in the similar lines provided it is something better than ‘Lootera’.”
On how her dad Shatrughan Sinha is away in America and will miss the release of her film, she shares, “My father Shatrughan has not seen the film as he is in America. Before going to America he has witnessed the release of the first promos and he did appreciate the promos. I am keen that he watches that song ‘Maat Mari’ as I have murmured his dialogue ‘Khamosh’. However, he will be watching it once he comes back.”
“I am indeed privileged that I have cut through all the age groups. Whether I am the Indian beauty or not, I personally feel it is the combination of lot many things. All I do is try to remain grounded. I try to be myself. I really cannot pretend to be someone else,” adds the heroine on her working philosophy of life.
“Thankfully, working alongside both fantastic dancers Prabhu Sir and Shahid initially I was a little nervous. But then I love dancing and once I am taught dancing steps, I just sizzle on the floor openly. After visualizing the photographs of all the dance numbers, I was awed to watch my step in sync with Shahid. I really felt as though I have passed out with flying colors,” shares the actress on her new dancing avatar. On her future films, she says, “I have ‘Holiday’ with Akshay Kumar which is a remake of ‘Thuppki’. Then it is ‘Action Jackson’. Also, I will be doing a film with Arjun Kapoor, which goes on floors in December. The film is yet not titled.”
