After carving a niche for themselves in Bollywood the musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loyare set to venture into the Mararthi film industry. The trio has provided the music for Gajendra Ahire’s supernatural thriller ANVAT, marking their debut in Marathi films. ANVAT is a thriller which will be premiered at the upcoming Goa Marathi Film Festival scheduled for next month. The film is set in the backdrop of 1975’s Konkan, Goa and Hyderabad and it stars celebrity couple Aadinath Kothare and Urmila Knetker besides Makrand Anaspure in pivotal roles. Talking about Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composing the music for his film Ahire said in an interview, “It was not difficult to get Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy on board for the film. In fact, they have done this project without charging anything.”
The trio has made music under the guidance of renowned singer Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar. In fact they have revived many hit Marathi numbers for the film which are sung by Mangeshkar.
“When I discussed about Shankar (Mahadevan) with Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, he said one of the songs which is planned for the movie is very close to him (Shankar),” Ahire said.
Talking about the film and its story line the national-award winning director said, “This is for the first time that a supernatural thriller genre is being tried in Marathi film industry. I have been working on different genres and they are challenging for me. Supernatural thriller is a universally accepted genre and hence even Marathi audience will accept it. Marathis also form a section of global view who are interested in watching such type of films.”
Ahire had also worked with banners like Adhikari Brothers and Balaji Films in the past.
