The Salman Khan-Priyanka Chopra feud over Bharat has taken all sorts of twists and turns. We wonder if this is a way to publicity by ridiculing PC’s exit, considering she has a bigger fan base and the jibe will take notice in the media. That being said, Salman’s nationalist statement during the launch of one of his songs has made us question if the remark was in good taste or just another attack.
By now the comments have made several headlines, but a recent one instigating readers to question Priyanka’s nationality and deed towards her motherland, isn’t impressing the most of us. According to Bollywood Hungama, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor said, “And she (Priyanka Chopra), over Bharat, did choose USA in the nick of time. She has worked hard all her life, okay? And when she got the biggest film of her life, she dumped that film and got married. You know, HATS OFF!”
Playing the national card has been the historical stance of haters, and now Salman has joined the bandwagon with this statement. Choosing USA over Bharat, is hinting pro-nationalists to condemn the actress with her work that practically united the two tangents of entertainment on this planet.
Let’s not forget she is a former Miss World, the first South Asian actress to win a People’s Choice Award, and in 2016, she was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, by the Government of India for her contribution to arts. Priyanka has time and again advocated India on the Hollywood front. To make a remark that provokes stigma on her patriotism, please stop right there.
