Earlier we reported of Akshay Kumar cancelling the shoot for Housefull 4 post sexual harassment allegations against the film’s director Sajid Khan. The issue came to light when three women accused the filmmaker of sexual misconduct.
Now according to a report by Bollywoodlife, a source has revealed that Akshay and producer of the film, Sajid Nadiadwala, took this call after the former returned from his holiday. They mutually decided and asked Sajid Khan to step down as the director of this film. The decision was taken after the massive uproar against Khan amid the #MeToo movement.
Sajid has also agreed to step down. A source revealed to the entertainment portal, “Housefull 4 is a big film and a franchise that is very dear to Sajid Nadiadwala. He didn’t want to hamper it or tarnish it by anyway. Both he and Akshay didn’t want to trivialise the ongoing debate and push it under the carpet. Hence the decision was taken that Sajid will be asked to leave the film.”
Apparently there will be a press conference and an announcement where Sajid Khan will reveal his decision to quit the film and step down as the director, adds the source.
