Urmila Matondkar, an actor turned politician made her debut in politics by joining the Congress Party in 2019. She even contested from Mumbai North constituency during Lok Sabha General Elections. According to a report in DNA, the actress recently in an interview with a leading daily talked about her marriage with husband Mohsin and the controversies surrounding her alleged religious conversion.
Urmila married Mohsin Akhar Mir in 2016, which got people to believe the actress will possibly convert her religion because she got married to a Muslim, which at the time applauded Urmila, she confessed during the interview. She went on to say it shouldn’t matter to anyone. She is proud of herself, will be of her decisions and would never do anything that would make her feel ashamed.
She also added, she is Hindu and it’s her choice to follow the religion, and even if she would have converted she would have said it with much pride. The news controversy was in bad taste and it’s the kind of politics she doesn’t like. She believes in Hinduism in a wider sense, unlike the one sold today to public.
Urmila was last seen on the screen as a lead actor in Ajoba (2014) and later featured in a cameo for a song in the Irrfan Khan starrer Blackmail.
