There’s a largeish audience for this genre of films, but this horror flick may satisfy only a few. Its saving grace are a couple of interesting characters, especially the dysfunctional cop (Shay Mitchell) who’s recovering from substance addiction. The plot gets going when the ex-cop gets a job on the night shift in a morgue and encounters the titular corpse (Kirby Johnson) which refuses to stay dead (courtesy a failed exorcism).
Gory deaths ensue. It may be noted, the hideous undead haunting/slaughtering the living is completely unscriptural as is the suggestion that pathetic humans can defeat deadly demons. The dead stay dead, Satan decieves. The gloomy colour palette makes the setting is spooky enough, but the narrative creeps to a predictable end. Ho hum. Just in case you don’t get it, the tagline states: Death is only the beginning. We say, spare us O Lord!
