Former CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani has recently filed a petition in Bombay High Court against censor board of cutting scenes of his upcoming film Rangeela Raja. The sanskaari ex-censor chief has accused his successor, Prasoon Joshi, of being a political appointee and of harassing him. Now, Pahlaj is taking a dig at popular web series Sacred Games which airs on Netflix.
Apparently, in an interview with The Print, Pahlaj said, “A company known as Netflex started a Website known as ‘Secret Game’ which has become very popular, however, all the films and programmes shown in the said website are the purely adult programme and it could be said the same as in the nature of blue films.”
He further stated that “There are instances where the films like Veere Di Wedding, Stree, Manmarziyaan, are being granted censor certificate by the office of the Respondent No.2 wherein, all kind of vulgar scenes and dialogues have been permitted. It is also an unhidden fact that one of the leading artist of the film Industry, also a film producer viz. Dada Kondke have been producing the films always having double meaning however, at all relevant point of time, his films have been granted censor certificate.”
In a quote by Bollywood Hungama, Pahlaj mentioned Prasoon Joshi stating, “Prasoon Joshi is breaking guidelines to please his friends. But he can’t bully me into cutting harmless scenes just because I was once in his chair and favouring no one. I am going to court to fight this out. I will see Mr Joshi in court.”
