Termed niche and offbeat, ‘Margarita With A Straw’ received a phenomenal response in the domestic release after achieving accolades in various international film festivals. Ringing in more than 5 cr and going strong at the Indian Box Office at the end of the second week, the film with its increasing word of mouth and positive reviews has witnessed a rise in demand among audiences.
While the film was released in metro cities in a limited fashion, after the first weekend itself the exhibitors increased the number of shows and added centres like namely Kanpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Dehradun, Siliguri, Darjeeling, Durgapore, Rajkot, Hubli, Lonawala, Goa and Chinchwad.
In fact, the rights of the film have already been sold in territories like USA, Japan, Korea and Spain. With a high return on investment, this small film with a big heart has paid off for the studio.
