Madhuri Dixit, Terence Lewis team up for a dance fest

Indian’s dancing queen Madhuri Dixit Nene and dance icon Terence Lewis are coming together to support Mumbai’s first ever Contemporary dance festival, Jugnee. Aimed to giving young emerging and professional dancers a voice and platform to showcase their talent, this five day dance festival will be a non-profit making property.

Talking about the festival, Terence says, “The dance community in India and Mumbai works in isolation and are unaware of the opportunities they have for themselves. It was important to unite them for several reasons, one is to give young struggling artist a platform, to bring international teachers and the best teachers from India together for students seeking further training.”

The festival will include workshops by international and Indian teachers. Screening of dance based movies that will be partenered by panel never seen before facilities: Francaise, Goethe Institut-Max Muller Bhavan, British Council and Prohelvetia: Swiss Arts Council. There will be panel discussions and performances by expert dancers and veterans from the dance industry for the students. Lastly free style dance sessions will be held for the young dancers to jam up and show off their skills by putting their best foot forward on the Dance Floor at Shiros.

Besides,Madhuri is also working to help people across all age groups to create awareness in dance through her digital app tutorials and much more. Her app (Dance With Madhuri: DWM) is one of the first apps in India on dance that has been successfully helping people to dance across the world. People, who may not have the luxury to step outside of their homes or work places, due to time, financial or social constraints.
