She clarifies that her dance number has a more classical appeal
Dancing diva, Madhuri Dixit who will be seen essaying the role of a queen in her upcoming, ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ clarifies that there is no ‘mujra’ in the film but her dance number will have more classical undertones.
Shedding light on her character, Madhuri speaks, “There isn’t ‘mujra’ in the movie. I’m playing the role of Begum (queen) and we can’t call this ‘mujra’ but rather it’s ‘thumri’ in classical style that has been choreographed by ‘thumri’ masterji. The specialty of this dance is that I’m not lip-syncing rather emoting the music.”
On the whole the actress has enjoyed working in the film and as far as the success of the film is concerned, she will wait for its release. “Commercially the successes of the film can only be figured post its release. However as a product, the film is highly entertaining. There is a rhythm through the film and I have enjoyed shooting. So, I hope the audience will also enjoy it,” says Madhuri whose last comeback ‘Aaja Nachle’ being a full on dance-entertainer didn’t really click at the box office.
‘Dedh Ishqiya’ starring Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Huma Qureshi releases January 10, 2014.
