National Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who is currently working on his next project ‘Calendar Girls’, will soon be felicitated with yet another award. Buzz is that the filmmaker would be honoured at the 11th edition of the Syracuse International Film Festival to be held in New York from October 5 to 12.
Sharing the news, Bhandarkar posted on the micro blogging site Twitter, “Delighted that the Syracuse Film Festival in New York has chosen to honour me with their prestigious Sophia.”
Bhandarkar, 46, will be presented the special Sophia award. What’s more, it’s being said that two of his films – Priyanka Chopra-starrer ‘Fashion’ and ‘Heroine’ featuring Kareena Kapoor – will also be screened in the ‘Film from India’ section at the international festival. Talking about it, Bhandarkar had further tweeted, “As part of the event ‘Fashion’ and ‘Heroine’ will be screened on October 11 and 12. This will be my first visit to Syracuse. Looking forward.”
The Syracuse International Film Festival was started in 2003 and over the past ten years, the fest has grown beyond an annual festival event. It is now a year-round producer of screenings and media-related programs.
