While Shah Rukh Khan plays Dwarf in his recent film Zero, we list down the real life dwarfs of Hindi Entertainment Industry which were considered Zeroes in the beginning but with their confidence and sheer dedication proved everyone wrong. From M M Faruqui known as Lilliput who has worked in films like Bunty Aur Babli, Aunty No. 1 to Jyoti Amge, holder of the Guinness Book Of World Record for being the world’s smallest living woman, the list includes people who proved that it’s the hard work that matters and not the height.
While there’s a long way to go for the dwarfs to break the stereotypes completely, we are happy about the fact that they have managed to break at least some of the glass ceilings with their success.
Lilliput
3.5 feet tall and 68 year old Lilliput was the first Dwarf who successfully ventured into the world of Bollywood and Television Industry. He is widely known for his comic timings in films like Bunty Aur Babli, Aunty No. 1 and TV series Dekh Bhai Dekh. Liliput recently stated that how he is still judged for his height. The actor in an interview stated that “For the last one year, I have been making the rounds of producers’ offices with two scripts. Some say, ‘Dekhenge, sochenge,’ while others are blunt, ‘Baune uthke chale aate hain director banne.”
Juhi Aslam
Juhi Aslam was the first dwarf woman who played lead roles in TV serials. The actress has first appeared in the TV show Baba Aiso Var Dhundo. She then went on appearing in shows like Jodha Akbar, Badho Bahu, and Warrior High. She even got married this year with her long time beau.
Jyoti Amge
Jyoti Amge who holds the Guinness Book Of World Record for being the world’s smallest living woman is 2 feet and 0.6 inches. She has starred in reality show Bigg Boss and documentary entitled Body Shock: Two Foot Tall Teen. Jyoti suffers from a growth abnormality called primordial dwarfisma. Jyoti in an interview with Huffington post stated that how she hates when random people pick her up and treat like a baby. Jyoti said, “When people start interacting with me they ask me questions like I’m a baby or treat me like I’m a baby and hold me like I’m a baby, and that’s what they do wrong, really.”
K K Goswami
K K Goswami started his acting career as Balli in Saktiman. He got recognition when he played the role of Gabroo in TV series Ssshhhh…Koi Hai. He was last seen in the show Trideviyaan where he played the role of Missile Thief. Goswami can be currently seen in TV show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai.
