Geeta Basra recently stated that how she was replaced in a lot of films post marriage rumours with Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, as that time Bollywood industry was not very welcoming towards married actresses.
While speaking to Hindustan Times about how she lost work as soon as media got whiff of her love life with Harbhajan, the actress said, “The Train (2007) had released, and I met Harbhajan. After that, in the media, straightaway the first story came out… I was married off, dates were out, locations of our wedding were out. Things became a little tough after that.”
The actress further added, ”A lot of films went out of my hand because they (makers thought) I was getting married. They thought a married girl becomes pregnant and then ‘what will happen to our film?’ A well-known female actor then had got pregnant during her movie, and that made things harder.”
Geeta who tied knot with Harbhajan in 2015 is blessed with a 3 year old daughter, Hinaya. On being asked how is Harbhajan as a father, the actress said, “He’s lovely! He’s a hands-on father, who dotes on his girl. I can’t say she’s a ‘daddy’s girl’ just yet. Sometimes she misses him when he’s not there. He loves changing her nappies, playing with her, watching films. Whatever time he’s lost out on while travelling, he makes up for it.”
