Katrina Kaif during promotions of Bharat recently in an interview with Filmfare talked about her childhood, and growing up without a father as her parents Mohammed Kaif and Suzanne Turquotte split years ago. She revealed she has been missing a strong male influence in her life.
She told the magazine not having a father figure created a vacuum and can make any girl feel vulnerable. “When I have kids, I want them to have the experience of being with both parents.”
“Each time I’ve gone through something emotionally hard, I was compelled to reflect that it must be nice for those who have a strong fatherly support from a male figure, who loves you unconditionally.” she added.
Katrina has three elder and three younger sisters and an elder brother. Talking about Suzanne bringing up all eight kids as a single mother, she confessed she feels for her mother as it must have been very difficult to manage all family by herself. “I asked her what were you thinking when you had so many children and how did you do it on your own. But in the last few years, what my mom had to say about life, has been much more helpful to me. It bears more weight. Now that you can see things from a distance, you realise it must have been tough for her,” Katrina added.
Katrina will be seen in Bharat as a strong willed women in the 1960’s alongside Salman Khan. The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial will reunite her with the director and co-star once again after the blockbuster Tiger Zinda Hai. The film also stars Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Nora Fatehi, Jackie Shroff and Tabu, will release on June 5.
