Veteran Actress, Entrepreneur & social activist Juhi Chawla has always been in the forefront to raise awareness against various social causes. Juhi has strongly voiced the harmful effects of radiation by mobile towers & been constantly fighting the battle. Only recently the Darr actress learnt about the menace of plastic in our country & vouches to create awareness through various platforms, as well as is urging organizations and corporates to take up CER – corporate environment responsibility.

Speaking on the same Juhi said,” If i really could I would write to the PM again and again requesting him to bring about a rule, like where you have CSR, if that is 2%, then 3% must be given to CER, which is corporate environment responsibility! After all every company, is making profits, is earning by exploiting the earth, in some way or the other. I mean we are all using the resources of the earth! But are we giving anything back? And even if we weren’t giving it back, atleast we cannot just destroy it! So i would surely have something like CER which every company would have to fulfill! And I think by doing that, India could lead. So bring about a rule like this which should be the first of its kind in the world. Why should we always follow someone else! We must lead.”
Juhi continues, ‘ Plastic is a substance the earth cannot digest! It never decomposes! So from your toothbrush, teaser, pens, I mean every piece of plastic has toxic substances! Not mixed, but there are chemicals to put into the plastic of some sort. And these you are putting in your mouth, touching it, giving it to little children and using it all the time! Drinking water too is being exposed to it! All these chemicals leech out when plastic comes in contact with heat, wind and water. These toxins cause a lot of liver problems and hormone disfunctions as well. We are actually turning blind, and using and abusing the earth with no thought! I mean, look at the amount of toxic, dangerous waste we are creating!’
The Miss India title winner has been time & again using her position & platform to create awareness & raise questions for the betterment of the society at large, ‘I will from my side, continue to work on spreading awareness about the harmful effects of plastic, wherever possible.’
