Irrfan takes no offence

There are fans who admire the stars they love and then there are fans who want to get noticed and how! Recently, when Irrfan Khan was shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s next, ‘Haider’ in the valley of Kashmir, a section of fans ( is what we are presuming) threw a kangri at the National award-winning actor. The actor was simply giving a shot, when a group of people came and hurled the pot filled with hot coal at him. Fortunately no one got hurt and the shoot was resumed.

“The kangri didn’t hit any of us. So, I can’t really say whether it was deliberately thrown at us with the intention to hurt or not. The incident is not really scary. What is really scary is what the local Kashmiri people have suffered for decades,” said Irrfan, whose love for the valley remains uncompromised.

This would be Irrfan’s third film with Vishal Bhardwaj. Vishal and Khan worked together in ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ and it was during the shoot of the latter, that Irrfan totally fell in love with Kashmir.

“I shot one section of Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ in Kashmir and I fell in love with the place. Then when Vishal offered me a cameo in ‘Haider’, I immediately accepted primarily for the pleasure of returning to the valley. Now, Vishal and I are planning another film to be shot here. This place is seductive and irresistible,” he said.

The film, ‘Haider’ has Shahid Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in pivotal roles and Shahid has shaved off his head for the film.
