Three films old, Alia Bhatt says that post ‘Highway’ and ‘2 States’ the pressure on her to perform well has increased now but that would not influence her film choices.
The 21-year-old actress, who is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ along with co-actor Varun Dhawan, said in an interview, “The pressure is always there. But I know that I want to do good films. I want to stand out with all my characters and I want to give the audience as much variety as possible.”
With ‘Humpty…’ Varun and Alia would be seen together on screen again, post their debut film ‘Student Of The Year’. Talking about their on-screen chemistry, Alia says that their chemistry will look good because they were more comfortable with the camera this time.
“The chemistry is good because of the characters we are playing. Also, I think we were not as nervous and as confused about what we were supposed to do in front of the camera. It became very organic,” she said.
Alia has also sang Rahet Fateh Ali-rendered ‘Samjhawan…’ in an unplugged version in ‘Humpty…’, after crooning ‘Sooha Saha…’ in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’. Sharing her singing-experience, the self-confessed bathroom singer revealed that she was not scared to take on the popular number.
She said, “I was not scared because I am not a professional singer. I knew that if I mess up I would not get as much flak. I love to sing. It gives me a certain sense of peace. I am not singing to impress anybody and I am very proud and happy that I got an opportunity to sing this song.”
On being asked if she would like to explore singing, the young actress said that she wants to take it further. “Definitely, I want to explore it. I was advised by A R Rahman to take my singing seriously and I am thinking about it,” said the youngest member of the Bhatt clan.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ is set to release this Friday.
