Shagun Gandhi brings you inspiration from the stars

The festival of colours is just around the corner and just in time! The weather is starting to get hot and the atmosphere is charged up with energy. It’s the perfect time to let your hair down and indulge yourself completely in the festival of joy! However, there is always confusion as to what to wear!!! We decide to look towards Bollywood for Holi inspiration—it makes sense to steal ideas from our celebs to look our glamorous best for the much-awaited Holi party this year.

Shorts and shirt

Copy Deepika’s effortless style from the song, ‘Balam Pichkari’ from the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with just a pair of comfy shorts and loose cotton shirt. Let your hair open or tie it in a topknot bun (after you have properly oiled it) for a carefree look. Opt for a darker colour shirt to avoid the fabric getting transparent when wet.

Churidar set

Nothing like a classic churidar set. Our own desi girl, Priyanka Chopra shows us how it’s done. She dons a tight fitted churidar set with dupatta and a braid in the cheeky song, ‘Do me a favor let’s play Holi’. Choose literally any old Indian dress, tie your hair in a French braid, add some jhumkis and you are ready to surprise everyone with that desi glam.

Salwar kameez

Take out a nice Indian outfit from your wardrobe and take cues from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from Chhan Ke Mohalla — pairing the kurta with a salwar considering it’s going to be hot in the daytime. With this look, you can also leave your hair open or tie it in a low bun.

Denim & ganji

Stick to the basic white ganji and denim pants if Indian is not your thing. Take notes from hottie, Katrina Kaif from ‘Panghat Pe Nache Madhubala’ as she looks super cool in those denims styled with a simple white ganji. Wear your favourite scarf as a bandana for a super cool look.

Basic top & skirt

For an easy breezy look, do a basic top and long flared skirt just like Huma Qureshi in ‘Go Pagal’. You could even do a fishtail braid and wear silver jhumkas for that ethnic look.
