Besides winning hearts everywhere Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ has turned out to be a win-win situation for everyone involved with the film. The Alia Bhatt-RandeepHooda-starrer has been the toast of every town playing the movie. Courtesy positive word of mouth, the film has been a profitable venture all around. ‘Highway’ recovered 85% of the cost even before the film was released.
“’Highway’ was always a profitable film, made and marketed at a tight cost and released in select 800 screens only, and the way it has been growing amongst audiences since Friday, it’s turning out to be a huge success for all of us. Hope the love for the movie keeps pouring in, in the next few days,” said Sajid Nadiadwala, the presenter of the film.
“I have not received such warmth from the theatre audience before. Will always remember this time,” adds Imtiaz, who has been visiting theatres across cities to get audience reactions first hand.
Talking about praise pouring in for the film, Shabana Azmi rushed to the Bhatts after watching the film to congratulate the proud parents. Azmi, who is one of the greatest actors in Hindi cinema, believes that Alia is the true inheritor of her talent and said, “Javed and I went straight to Alia’s house after watching ‘Highway’. We were both profoundly moved by her performance. I am so very proud of her. Alia took me completely by surprise. She possesses both vulnerability and insouciance.”
Daddy Bhatt had called Alia’s ‘Highway’ her ‘Arth’ a while back and the praises for the young actor didn’t just stop here, sister Pooja Bhatt is grateful for Imtiaz Ali for what he made Alia do in the film and said, “If ‘Student Of The Year’ launched Alia as a young star, ‘Highway’ has launched her as an actor. I am so proud of her and I shall remain ever-grateful to Imtiaz.”
Elder sister Pooja is even planning a film with Alia soon. So it won’t be wrong to say that ‘Highway’ has opened so many avenues for Alia’s star studded journey.
