As Nana Patekar turns 68 today, we list down five times when Bollywood came out in open and accepted that the senior actor has many a times crossed limits due to his issues with anger management. While we all know Tanushree Dutta’s ordeal with Nana where she accused the actor of sexually harassing her in 2008 on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’, celebrities like Dimple Kapadia and Director Tigmanshu Dhulia, has also confirmed in the past that the senior actor is indeed infamous for losing his temper. In fact Patekar himself once accepted that he has lost quite a few films because of his anger issues.
So as much as we adore and admire Nana Patekar as an actor, we list down the five times when his temper scared the hell out of Bollywood.
Tanushree Dutta
In the year 2008, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana of sexually abusing her on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss in which she was supposed to do a dance number. However after repeated requests to Nana and even to the makers of film, Tanushree’s plea felt to deaf ears. Not only that, the actress even stated that Nana also send a few political goons who literally jumped and banged on Tanushree’s car, a footage of which is already out.
The actress then decided to opt out of the film. Straight away in 2018, Tanushree once again talked about her ordeal. Luckily this time people took note of the actress and the results were shown when Nana was sacked from the film Housefull 4 in which he was supposed to play an integral part.
Reuka Shahane
While giving her views on the whole Nana Patekar-Tanushree Dutta controversy, the Hum Aapke Hai Koun actress accepted that Bollywood celebrities are aware of Nana’s wrath. She wrote on a Facebook post, “Nana Patekar is known as much for his volatile temper as he is for his phenomenal talent or his social service towards farmers. Many men & women from the film industry have faced his wrath.”
Neeraj Pandey
This time Nana himself confirmed that he does have temper issues due to which he has lost out on plump roles, one of them being Neeraj Pandey’s ‘A Wednesday’. In an interview with Aap Ki Adalat, Nana said, “Yes, it’s true that I have anger issues. But, on screen, I get paid for it (smiles). I do it only for the role. But, yes I do get angry. Naseeruddin Shah once informed me that Neeraj Pandey initially wanted me to do Naseer’s part in ‘A Wednesday’. When Naseer asked Pandey that why didn’t he approached me for the film , Pandey said, ‘I don’t want to get beaten up’. I later called up Pandey and asked him not to do this. ‘I am short-tempered but not mad'”.
Tigmanshu Dhulia
In the year 2011, Tigmanshu Dhulia who directed Nana Patekar in the film Shagird said that he was so terrified of Nana’s temper tantrums that he took distributor friend Sunil Vora when he first went to meet the senior actor. Tigmanshu said, “When I went to meet him the first time, I took distributor friend Sunil Vora along with me and asked him to knock on the door, if I didn’t come back within an hour. To my surprise, everything went well.” In fact, Tigmanshu confessed that with Nana on the sets there would be tension in the atmosphere and it wasn’t easy working with him.
Dimple Kapadia
In an old video of Dimple Kapadia with film critic Anupama Chopra, the senior actress has stated that Nana is obnoxious and also has a dark side which many are not aware of. Dimple said, “I think Nana is obnoxious both in a good and a bad way.I have also seen his terrible side… the dark side. We all have a dark side which is nicely and safely kept aside.”
