If you thought Gauhar Khan was keeping a low profile after the slap-controversy that happened on the sets of ‘India’s Raw Stars’, then here’s a little tip. After ruling the ramp for a long period of time, the popular model turned actor is all set to debut in a Punjabi film, ‘Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya’ alongside actor Jassi Gill. The movie will be directed by Raj Sinha.
Gauhar Khan, in her short stint with Bollywood, has worked in films like ‘Rocket Singh’ and ‘Ishaqzaade’ and an item number in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. She then participated in a series of reality shows, either as a contestant or as a host.
‘Bigg Boss 7’, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’ to name a few. Popular for stirring controversies, Gauhar Khan also starred in a reality show similar to a popular American show, ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’, called as ‘The Khan Sisters’. She was also in news for her fights and love affair with Kushal Tandon on ‘Bigg Boss 7’, where she emerged as the winner.
Talking about how she prepared herself for the role, she said, “Jassi was my tutor and taught me certain chaste Punjabi words. Having had Punjabi friends, I am familiar with the language, but I have to work on the fluency. In fact, we shot a song recently and everyone on the set was shocked that I could lip sync so well.”
With her debut Punjabi film releasing on May 22, Gauhar has more reasons to celebrate as her Hindi film, a romantic thriller called ‘Fever’, will also hit screens during the same month. Written and directed by Rajeev Jhaveri, ‘Fever’ revolves around an assassin who takes on the identity of a writer to escape the law. Shot in Switzerland, and starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Khan plays the role of the leading lady in this one. But she quickly dismisses any urge to play lead roles, as she says meatier and substantial characters interest her.
