It’s the age of multitasking and joining the band wagon is director Kunal Kohli. The director, who has given hits like Hum Tum, Fanaa and a few others, is all set to act in his next film, ‘Phir Se’. The movie is about two broken hearts and how they meet and fall in love.
Talking about the film, Kunal Kohli said, “Even though we have shot across picturesque locations in London, we have managed to stick to a tight budget throughout the shooting. Despite this, we have managed to produce a film of really good quality and visually the movie is at par with big budget films being produced today. If I were to have made the movie with any other big star, the movie would visually stay the same, we have ensured that.”
‘Phir Se’ is directed by Ajay Bhuyan and Kunal Kohli, produced by Shiv Kumar and presented by Bombay Film Company Ltd. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres in the end of May, 2015. It stars Kunal Kohli, Jennifer Winget, Rajit Kapoor, Dalip Tahil, Kanwaljeet Singh among others.
It’s definitely not the first time when a director has taken to acting after directing a few films. Infact this very year, Karan Johar will be seen playing the role of a villain in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Boimbay Velvet’. Anurag Kashyap himself has acted in over 10 films so far. He played the role of pedophile in Onir’s I AM and then also a gangster in ‘Shagird’. Award winning director Tigmanshu Dhulia played a vital role in ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ and ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’. Farhan Akhtar, who’s first directorial debut was ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, discovered his acting and singing skills, and used them in his films. Apart from these, Nagesh Kukunoor, Mahesh Manjarekar and Sudhir Mishra have been interchanging their roles as actors and directors from time to time.
While there are some whom we love behind the camera and there are others who do a great job in front of it.Only time will tell if Kunal Kohli will continue with his acting stint or will get back behind the camera.
