Bollywood and sports have an interesting connection that goes way back in time. With onscreen biopics in motion, we have some dedicated celebs who have been loyal to their favourite sport. Marking the FIFA World Cup of 2018, our B-Town heroes couldn’t hold back with France beating Croatia and grabbing the title after 20 years.
Ranveer Singh had gone to witness the FIFA World Cup 2018 magic live. He took to Twitter to share a throwback photo when he attended a football match. He captioned the image as, “Throwback to yelling ….. “ALLEZ LES BLEUS” at the Stade de France !!! Congrats @equipedefrance Great win !!! #worldcup #fiersdetrebleus.”
Other Bollywood biggies such as Amitabh Bachchan and Arjun Kapoor also couldn’t hold back and took part in the virtual celebration on social media.
Arjun Kapoor, who is working on Namaste England also congratulated the team and tweeted, “Congratulations to #France consistent thru the tournament & they beat a superb #Belgium team along the way… commiserations to #Croatia played well & deserved an even battlefield to win the cup but they still showed resilience and grit to chase it till the end #FifaWorldCup2018.”
Abhishek Bachchan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, too, shared the photo of France lifting the World Cup.
On the other side, Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari and Boman Irani expressed their “heartbreak” over Croatia’s loss which was an underdog all along.
France may have won the game but Croatia won many hearts with their tremendous journey.
“I see the Croatia players and fans with their heads hung low? Should not. They played like Titans. Inspired and made proud their own people AND the rest of the world,” wrote Boman while Randeep shared two photographs of team Croatia and wrote, “You won it for me Croatia #WorldCupFinalAllez Le bluez #FrancevsCroatia.”
