“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.” Paulo Coelho alluded to this in his book Veronika Decides to Die. Kumar Vishwas(Dibyendu Sharma) peddling Fairtel Cos products in a Call centre somewhere in North India, though, is not conversant with Paulo Coelho’s works or the idea of being patient. He belongs to Gen Next which wants everything ‘fatafat.’ Even Motivational Speaker Montek Singh Gulati’s(Inderpal Singh) exhortation to cultivate ‘sabre’ falls on deaf ears. So when his scores at the end of the month read zero, he gets worried at the outcome. A chance encounter with a travelling salesman on a bus nets him a packet of instant fix tablets which he believes will enable him to ride over the downturn in his career. The crux of the matter lies in what happens when he runs out of them.
Director Parijat Joshi’s attempt to appeal to youngsters to develop and cultivate patience, is emphatic and effective mainly because Dibyendu Sharma shoulders the responsibility of making it all feel believable. The scripting lacks punch while the direction and other technicalities seem rather indistinct. As a cautionary tale, this one doesn’t have enough of an impact.
