Salman Khan revealed his young and rebellious avatar as a circus artist from the 1970’s in the teaser of Bharat and then in the song ‘Slow Motion’ along side Disha Patani. While it impressed many the circus sequence in the film has been inspired by Dharmendra’s movie from the same year, 1970.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar during an interview was quoted saying, “Our circus sequences are inspired from Raj saab’s Mera Naam Joker. Our circus troupe is international, just like the one in the film.” The filmmaker had also mentioned the film is his tribute to Raj Kapoor’s ‘Mera Naam Joker’.
When Dharmendra was asked about Khan’s homage to him, he said, “Salman is like my third son (after Sunny and Bobby). He has always shown the greatest love not just for me, but also for my entire family. I am very fond of Salman. I am not surprised if he has modelled his character on me. He always says I’m his role model, so nice of him.”
Salman Khan known to be a huge fan of Dharmendra always finds a way to compliment the veteran actor on and off screen. They have also worked in film together before like, ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’, and a cameo in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se’.
Bharat directed by Ali Abbas Zafar will see stellar performances from Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, and Sunil Grover. The film will hit screens on Eid, 2019.
