India and Pakistan, since from partition, have shared a mixed relationship. But, breaking all barriers, these people found their love interest outside India and got married to Pakistanis. Mohsin Khan and Reena Roy
Mohsin and Reena had a straightforward private wedding supposedly held at Karachi in Pakistan. The initial years post-wedlock were bliss. Mohsin owned a large manor in London and the couple would often keep shuttling between their houses in England and Pakistan while sometimes making a stopover at Mumbai to meet Reena’s mother. Reena and Mohsin were eventually blessed with a daughter, whom they named Jannat, and that completed their family picture. But unfortunately they got separated and took divorce.
Zaheer Abbas and Rita Luthra
Zaheer met Rita in 1980s. Zaheer used to play for Gloucestershire, and Luthra was studying interior designing in UK. Zaheer, then married, tied the knot with Rita in 1988. Rita has since changed her religion and is now known as Samina Abbas.
Tavleen Singh and Salman Tasser
Indian journalist and author Tavleen Singh met Pakistani politician Salman Taseer in London in the late 1970s when she was working there. Salman was already married man with children, but the rich aristocrat from Lahore showed no hesitation in seducing the good-looking Sardarni from Delhi. But The marriage, which lasted for only a few months in 1979-80 produced a son, the writer Aatish Taseer. Thereafter, Tavleen remained single for several years and raised her son single-handedly at her ancestral home in Delhi
Nonita Lall and Faisal Qureshi
Indian ace golfer Nonita Lall and Pakistani golfer Faisal Qureshi got married in 1992. They met during a golf tournament in Islamabad and fell for each other. In spite of the fact that he is not Indian citizen and a year younger than her, Nonita accepted Qureshi’s marriage proposal and got married to him after a month’s courtship.
Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza
In 2010, Indian tennis star Sania broke off her engagement to childhood friend Sohrab Mirza to marry Pakistani cricketer Malik. There was much drama before the wedding between two renowned sportspersons when reports emerged that Malik was already married to another Hyderabad girl, Ayesha Siddiqui. Malik denied the accusations, though the girl’s family released marriage certificate to prove that Ayesha was married to the Pakistani cricketer. Malik later confirmed his marriage with Ayesha and got a divorce. Malik and Sania are happily married now for four years and continue to be the darling of the Indian media.
Nigaar Khan and Khayyam Sheikh
Nigaar and Khayyam have been in love for years before they decided to tie the knot and get hitched. Khayyam is a Pakistani businessman who’s settled in Abu Dhabi, Dubai while Nigaar is an actress.
