Cinematographer Ashok Mehta dies of lung cancer

Cinematographer Ashok Mehta, known for his work in films like ‘Ijazat’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Khalnayak’, Saudagar’, and many more breathed his last on Wednesday afternoon at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The 65- yearold cinematographer was diagnosed with lung cancer in February.

Various industry people expressed their condolences on his death. Actress Raveena Tandon posted on Twitter, ” Rest in peace Ashok Mehta. I am sure you’re correcting the lighting and the framing, up there too, making the place even more beautiful for us. I was lucky, I was the last one you shot with, two weeks ago at Mehboob Studios for the save girl child video. I’m sure it will be my best because of you.” Choreographer- turned- directorturned- actor Farah Khan tweeted, ” Had the fortune to work with Ashok Mehta.

Revolutionary cinematographer, may God bless his soul.” Filmmaker Shekhar Kapurs tweet read, ” RIP Ashok Mehta. He taught me that my instincts were good, but only as good as my courage to follow them.” Tweets from other people from the fraternity continue to pour in. May he rest in peace.
