Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is among the few actors in showbiz who has worked in Bollywood and Hollywood.
The former Miss World made her Bollywood debut with "Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya" in 1997, and since then she has been entertaining audience with her performances. "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam ", "Taal", "Devdas" and "Jodhaa Akbar" are some of her remarkable movies.
As for Hollywood, Ash was seen in flicks like "Bride & Prejudice" and "Provoked" to name a few.
However, it was the 2005 film “The Mistress of Spices” that had the world talking about Aishwarya’s sultry and sensual performance onscreen, especially her ‘sex scene’ with co-star Dylan McDermott.

“The Mistress of Spices” is a romantic drama directed by Paul Mayeda Berges. It is based upon the 1997 novel Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.
The film however tanked at the box office.
For those unversed, Aishwarya once rejected a film opposite Brad Pitt as it required her to perform some steamy scenes with the Hollywood actor.
The film in question was "Troy" where she was offered the role of Briseis which was eventually played by Rose Byrne.
When TV host Oprah Winfrey asked Ash about the same after her wedding with Abhishek Bachchan, the latter laughed and said "Go on baby", following which Abhishek gave a peck on her cheek.
Abhishek said, “Not a lot of it happens on camera in India as openly as it does in West. It is not about will it be accepted or not, it is not required. A lot of Indian audience doesn’t think it is required. To put it this way, if we make up a scene, boy meets girl, they fall in love, they want to express their love and they kiss. In India, we will have a song. They have this intimate moment, and cut, you are in the middle of the mountains and you are singing and dancing.”
Despite the hot and heavy romance as seen in “The Mistress of Spices”, Aishwarya never kissed anyone onscreen before she broke the rule in "Kyun...! Ho Gaya Na" with Vivek Oberoi and "Dhoom 2" with Hrithik Roshan.
When Ash made her comeback onscreen with "Jazbaa" after having her daughter Aaradhya, she stated that the kissing won’t happen again.
She said, "I had already declined a couple of scripts purely on the basis of not being comfortable with the very physical scenes, kissing scenes etc… I had not done that onscreen and I was quite sure that my audience won’t be very comfortable with me doing it onscreen. Personally, I was quite convinced that my fans won’t appreciate it but I still said ok if I have to go down this path, let me first do it in our cinema and see if all my doubts were true. And they were.”
Aishwarya was last seen in 2018 film "Fanney Khan", starring Anil Kapoor and RajKummar Rao. She will next be seen in Mani Ratnam’s epic historical drama “Ponniyin Selvan”.
