'Was told I needed surgery': Radhika Madan says she 'faced rejections' while auditioning for films after quitting TV

Actress Radhika Madan, who was last seen in Irrfan Khan's 'Angrezi Medium', revealed that she was told she 'needed surgery' to get films in Bollywood.

Radhika, who made her acting debut as Ishani in Ekta Kapoor's show 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi', quit TV and ventured into Bollywood with Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Pataakha'.

Taking about her journey in the TV industry, Madan told HoB, "At 17, I auditioned for a TV show and within 3 days I was in Bombay, shooting. But it was tough. I barely got time to sleep, which led to me gaining a few kilos. ⠀

"Then, I heard rumours about me getting replaced & that pushed me to explore my limits. So I began working out & lost myself to my character. And I realised, this is my high…this is what I want to do!"

However, at 19, Radhika decided to get out of her comfort zone and quit small screen even when she was getting more offers.

"I began auditioning, but I faced rejections. I was told I needed to have a particular shape and size, and that I needed surgery," she said.

Radhika will be seen in the upcoming romantic anthology 'Feels Like Ishq'. She essays Avni in director Ruchir Arun's segment of the anthology, titled 'Save The Da(y)te'. She features opposite Amol Parashar.

'Feels Like Ishq' brings together six directors -- Ruchir Arun, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, Anand Tiwari, Danish Aslam, Jaydeep Sarkar, Sachin Kundalkar and Devrath Sagar.

The anthology stars Kajol Chug, Mihir Ahuja, Simran Jehani, Rohit Saraf, Saba Azad, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Zayn Khan, Neeraj Madhav, Tanya Maniktala and Skand Thakur in leading roles.

It will stream on Netflix on July 23.

Radhika Madan will also be seen in Kunal Deshmukh's upcoming Bollywood film 'Shiddat' alongside Mohit Raina and Diana Penty.
