Gujarat HC urges CBFC to consider ‘Mental Hai Kya’ without any influence of filed petition

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming release Mental Hai Kya has been dragged into headlines for reasons pertaining to the lead actress her rivalry and later due to its titled and content speculation. Now the films motion poster and its name has been objected.

The film’s trailer was scheduled to release last week has been postponed since the Central board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked to view the film first before giving a green signal for trailer release.

A report in Pinkvilla said a petition was filed against Mental Hai Kya producer Ekta Kapoor by Mental Health experts. They expressed displeasure over the film's title and teaser and wish the film would change the title. But the makers have assured the film does not discriminate any individual with mental illness.

The report states that the CBFC will watch the Kangana Ranaut starrer this week and have been encouraged by the Gujarat High Court to be influenced of the petition filed. A source revealed to the portal, "CBFC has been directed by the Gujarat High Court that they should watch the movie without getting influenced by the petition that has been filed. And now CBFC has fast-tracked the films viewing and the makers of the movie are gearing up for their scheduled release date of July 26, 2019."

The motion poster of the film also has a disclaimer stating, ‘Mental Hai Kya is a fictional thriller, and in no way will offend or disregard anyone's sentiments’. The Rajkummar Rao starrer is slated to release on July 26, 2019.
