Actress Alia Bhatt on Sunday shared an emotional note after she completed the last schedule of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi.'
The actress took to Instagram to express mixed emotions on wrapping up the film shooting. She also described filming it as a "gigantic life changing experience".
Sharing a few pictures with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the crew of Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia wrote, "We started shooting Gangubai on the 8th of December 2019 .. and we wrapped the film now 2 years later."
Recalling the journey of being totally invested in its making for the last two years, the actress wrote, "This film and set has been through two lockdowns.. two cyclones.. director and actor getting covid during the making!!! the troubles the set has faced is another film altogether."
"But through all that and more.. what I take away is the gigantic life changing experience! Being directed by sir has been a dream all my life, but I don’t think anything would have prepared me for the journey I was on for these two years.. I walk out of this set a diff person today! I love you sir! Thank you for being you .. there is truly NO ONE like you," the actress further wrote in the caption.
"When a film ends a part of you ends with it! Today I’ve lost a part of me.. Gangu I love you! You will be missed. P.S - special mention to my crew - my family and friends for these two years! without you nothing would have been possible! Love you guys," Alia added.
The shooting of this film was halted when Alia and Bhansali were diagnosed with coronavirus.
The film features Alia as Gangubai, one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams from Kamathipura, Mumbai's red light area, during the 1960s.
The film has been adapted from one of the chapters of noted author Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai.'
Earlier this year, the makers had announced that the film will open theatrically on July 30. However, there is no clarity on the film's new release date as yet.
Meanwhile, Alia is currently prepping for her film 'Darlings,' which will also mark her debut as a producer. She also has SS Rajamouli’s 'RRR', Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' alongside beau Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar directorial 'Takht', and another untitled project by Karan Johar in her pipeline.
