Ali Fazal reveals why he cancelled his 'grand and romantic' proposal to Richa Chadha at the last moment

Actor Ali Fazal recently opened up on how he proposed to his longtime partner, actress Richa Chadha.

Ali and Richa, who worked together in 'Fukrey', have been dating for a few years now. The two had planned to get married last year but due to the pandemic, they postponed their plans.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan India, Ali revealed that he had planned a 'grand' surprise for Richa, but cancelled it in the spur of the moment.

The actor said that he had planned a super romantic proposal where he was going to make things fly from a helicopter to confess his love for Richa.

His plan was to come back from a trip to the Maldives they took together and propose. However, last-minute, he cancelled this plan and went ahead with the cheesiest proposal.

Ali revealed that he had planned a dinner date on an Island in the Maldives and he proposed to Richa on her birthday. Ali said he got swept away in a romantic moment and ended up proposing to her then and there, adding that at that time, they were in the middle of the ocean and it was very romantic.

The 'Mirzapur' actor said that it was weird because that’s the kind of thing he used to mock his friends for and he used to tell them that such things happen only in films.

A few days back, Ali opened up on his marriage plans. During an interaction with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Ali said that the celebrity couple will be hosting a grand reception post their marriage as they want to celebrate their happiness with everyone.

However, the couple is in no hurry to tie the knot as Ali wants to earn more money.

He said that last year has been emotionally draining for him as he lost his mother. He added that he will hopefully get married very soon.

The couple had reportedly made their relationship official in 2016. They have worked together in 'Fukrey' and 'Fukrey Returns'. The duo will be collaborating again for the third installment of the franchise.
