Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says while shooting for his upcoming TV show ‘Yudh’ he is enjoying being a ‘one take’ man. The megastar wrote in his blog that there’s “immense satisfaction” in living a scene in “one stroke”, thanks to multiple cameras shooting from different angles! The 71-year-old actor even shared some photographs from the set of ‘Yudh’ on his blog.
The serial marks his debut in the fiction space on the small screen. In his blog post, Amitabh wrote, “It is quite challenging to be in character and do an entire scene comprising several pages of dialogue, movement, introduction of other characters, camera movements, covering large areas of space on set… But at the end of it there is immense satisfaction of having lived that scene in one stroke… unlike at other times when we would have to do a few lines and cut for different angles and positioning of artists.”
He further wrote in the post that the “benefit of three cameras running at a time, and the benefit of digital photography” has made it possible to place cameras at “vantage points, covering all the angles, thereby allowing the artist to perform all in one go than to play stop and keep playing again and again for the rest of the scene”. This in turn has changed the old-school way of shooting as he wrote, the “joy of having continuity of thought and performance, and speed in completing a given scene in a shorter period of time.
“These changes in technology have given us, as artists, the benefit of the act. It could be taking a little more time to prepare for the shot, but when it is ready there is huge satisfaction in its accomplishment, for, it all gets over in one take,” added the actor.
Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, ‘Yudh’ is likely to go on air in July on Sony TV. It also stars Sarika and Kay Kay Menon along with Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Big B has completed more than four decades of his life in the Bollywood industry.
